#7 Powerful Ways to Generate More Backlinks And Organic Search Traffic to Your Website

The author’s views are entirely his or her own and may not always reflect the views of Ranking By SEO.

In my years of writing web content, I have realized that search engine optimization (SEO) is indeed a challenging aspect of running a successful business. I have tried various strategies to boost backlinks and organic traffic, but only a few can be considered effective.

Not all companies know about organic search traffic. Essentially, it is unpaid search traffic that is not generated through paid click ads. And its top advantage is the cost because the amount of pay-per-click ads accumulates over time.

Organic search traffic allowed my company’s link to be seen immediately by site visitors. I have also learned that organic SEO makes a company more credible. Most Internet users know and assume that a huge and legit company would appear in results pages.

SEO makes this possible because it improves and increases one’s online presence.

In this blog post, I will share seven powerful ways to generate organic search traffic. Without the help of each marketing strategy, I wouldn’t have been able to see how organic SEO managed to trump the rest of my competitors. I combined these seven tips, and I was able to engage my site visitors and improve their user experience.

I am happy to share my experiences in this beginner’s guide to help you learn the ropes of organic SEO and earn backlinks and search traffic.

1. Leverage Broken Link Building

Users often get frustrated with broken links. No visitor would like to see “Sorry, page not found” on a webpage.

Moreover, broken links only clutter the webpage and push visitors to leave the website immediately.

Fortunately, there are two ways with which you can leverage broken links and boost your link building campaign.

You can use inbound links using Wikipedia! Wikipedia is a legit, crowd-sourced encyclopedia, with numerous editors keeping the content credible and error-free. However, Wiki often has a lot of broken links that require a citation.

When editors see it’s a dead link, they leave a footnote so users can identify it.

After you find these dead or broken links, use a backlink tool to insert these URLs and analyze them. If you plug a broken link, the tool may generate new link building opportunities. Insert the broken link in an Internet Wayback machine and extract the original content. Edit this content and suggest to Wiki to use the link to your article.

Once this request gets approved and puts your link up in the specific article you wanted it to, link building campaigns will be much easier.

Another way to leverage broken link building is to pitch to leading websites in your niche, which have dead resources.

But instead of actually linking to a dead link, you will write a new guest post that has the same topic. Once your article has been published, you can ask the webmasters to replace the dead resource with your article.

The best tip for leveraging BLB comes from Nikolay Stoyanov, who earned 15 links in just one day! Unlike others who use WikiGrabber and other tools, Stoyanov uses Ahrefs for finding broken links. Ahrefs analyzes websites and finds hidden resources.

Broken links

You just have to enter the URL into Ahrefs search bar and it will automatically generate broken articles.
Narrow down your search and you’ll see the domains linked to an article. Use this to know which article you want to rewrite.

Stoyanov also resorted to a more direct approach: the email outreach. You just have to email a blogger, explain your objective and the benefits of reciprocal linking, and wait for him to reply. Be cordial and courteous as much as possible.

2. Create an Engaging Infographic

Visuals, when it comes to content marketing, have never been known to fail. They make reading and understanding concepts easier and increase customer satisfaction.

Infographics are examples of effective tools to keep your customers interested in the content. The use of infographics is common in b2b marketing. In fact, the majority of consumers share infographics via social media. By using relevant organic keywords you can also optimize infographics.

You can also do this by utilizing URL strings. The keyword should be included in the URL and strategically placed within your content. Search engines will be able to detect your keywords and infographic. Keywords may also be placed in the meta-description, H1 heading (the largest heading in a post), and in the images embedded in the content.

Use a tool for a more convenient keyword research. Infographics, along with other tools, help boost the success of a marketing agency. I have seen how the infographics, which I shared, made people click and visit my website.

My readers also find the content easier to comprehend as infographics can quickly sum up and show complex topics in an easy-to-follow manner.

Here’s an example: Venngage was able to increase its traffic data, registration, and revenue by almost 40 percent.

Infographics

They used infographics to build relationships with their clients and create solid backlinks. They began by brainstorming which influencers they could work with and made sure that their visual content matched these influencers. Since they created infographics almost every single day, it became easy for them to offer various infographics to their clients and other major influencers.

3. Get Press Using HARO

Another way to direct traffic to your content is by making use of the Help a Reporter Out (HARO) service. It’s a free service that provides sources to journalists. They use this database for their articles and press releases.

SEO success is partly attributed to HARO. When journalists come to you for press releases, you get high authority backlinks in return. There’s also a greater chance that visitors will be directed to your landing pages.

Christopher Gimmer, a popular blogger, experimented with HARO and signed up as a source.

Eventually, he got emails and requests from various print and online publications. A few weeks later, an article was published about him.

The article also provided a link and created exposure for the graphic design tool Snappa. This tool made work easier for him and the journalist. And if it worked for Christopher, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t try it, too.

You might also want to upgrade your HARO account for better chances of Google search and social media presence.

This tool conveniently generates legit press mentions and high-quality backlinks.

4. Content Relaunch

Content relaunch has vastly improved Hubspot’s search rankings. By using the Attribution Reports tool, the Hubspot team was able to identify their blog posts that generated most leads.

Content Relaunch

We all know that customer retention translates into leads and revenues. However, not everything on your website attracts and leads customers to action.

This is why Hubspot decided to relaunch their content through a number of marketing technology ideas.

The first step is to create viral content. When customers like the content, they usually share and re-post it on social media platforms.

You could also add a call-to-action to your content; it encourages your customers to buy a product or try a service.

Website redesign is also part of the content relaunch, as it gives your website a new look. Try displaying Facebook ads, too.

A website design that is aligned with your company’s goals and niche will attract a huge market.

5. Video Marketing

I have also turned to video marketing and saw how much traffic was generated within just a few months.
The use of video to market your business is not entirely new, so you shouldn’t be reluctant to try it. The right videos can add punch to your web design and content.

Rob Toledo, a bounce rates specialist, said videos have become essential when it comes to brand recognition, SEO, and conversion rates. Videos, if done right, can influence your conversion rate optimization and keyword ranking.

Gareth Davies of WordTracker adds that 80 percent of videos used in marketing are informational.

Thus, the key here is not only to make the videos viral but also to make them useful to customers.

A perfect example of videos as an inbound marketing tool is Robert Dollwet’s Skateboarding cat video for his animal training business.

Video Marketing

Although there is a call-to-action button in the video, it has a clear and strong narrative that invites viewers to watch and share the video.

Potential clients can be easily reached this way, and with the videos showing his skill at what he does—he can easily convert leads into business.

TIP: To rank first in Google searches and generate organic search results, create short videos and snippets (or trailers). There are also SEO tools that you can use before you publish them on YouTube.

Youtube’s search filters and search auto-suggest can help you understand how SEO analysis and keyword analysis work. These search filters are effective in getting YouTube videos ranked quickly and in determining your best traffic sources.

6. Skyscraper Technique

When Brian Dean discovered the Skyscraper Technique, his organic traffic increased up to 10 percent in just two weeks!

In his blog post on Backlinko, he shared how he implemented it successfully.

backlinks and organic traffic

First, he found proven linkable assets that served as the foundation for his marketing campaign. A linkable asset is a high-value page that you can use repeatedly for links.

Brian then replicated the article with better content. A simple way of doing it is to write longer articles.

Better content is summed in three phrases: up-to-date, thorough, and useful.

The last stage of the Skyscaper Technique is to reach out to the right people. This technique is one of the reasons why organic search results are easy to achieve.

7. Get Editorial Links

The difference between organic SEO and native SEO lies in what search engines look for: The former relies heavily on content, whereas the latter looks for trusted locations.

Content becomes engaging through the use of editorial links. These links specify the resources for the data and statement.

Hence, customers can check if the websites linking back to you are legit or authorities in the niche.

Aside from marketing automation tools, editorial links can help generate organic SEO and traffic. Users who will see these links will trust your website and recognize your brand.

TIP: To attract editorial links, you should have a well-researched and well-written content. Your website should also show a good number of followers. Legit resources and websites will want to link with blogs that are widely read, too.

Editorial links also help you optimize your knowledge base. Case in point: an article that links back to Forbes, or vice versa, can encourage your customers to click these links. In short, both websites earn traffic – it’s a win-win situation.

Take analytics training if you want, but the best way to generate organic SEO and drive more traffic to your website is to follow Alex Chris’s footsteps. Be creative and learn to think outside the box, he said. The goal isn’t to find so many links, but to identify which links work for your rankings.

Final words,

SEO success isn’t done overnight. But with these seven powerful tips and an attitude that says you’re ready to think outside the box, boosting backlinks and organic traffic won’t be a big challenge anymore, not even for startup companies.
